Pope John Paul II enters health care debate
Catholic hospitals must provide food and water to comatose patients, even when there is no hope of recovery. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops issued this order based on a 2004 speech by Pope John Paul II. This policy is bound to put the Catholic Church at odds with congressional policy makers during the upcoming health care debate.

Many people claim to love Pope John Paul II and his message. Yet, he was against the death penalty and would certainly be for universal “socialized” health care. Many of these same people are very selective in what they accept from JPII — since they support executions, an denying those without money medical care.
