A right is fundamental when it has a quality of the absolute, like truth, justice, freedom, and love. Health care does not share the quality of these. It is a human system and, as such is flawed. That the USCCB considers it a basic right will lead it to manipulation by politicians and far-left ideologues that have close to atheist or agnostic beliefs. How easily these elements can elevate the right to health care above the truly basic right to life.

I think we shouldn’t need to discuss what people need. It’s obvious to functioning human beings. This is why people started support groups. I think we shouldn’t have government involved in health care issues.

WHy This question? Comparing a person who served the Lord & the World for so many years with the one who is serving them with the same vigour though displayed differently. Each according to the Charisms the Lord has given them. I love them both for what they have done. Said a Yes to the Lord and constantly saying Yes to him throughout their lives. Many people claim to love Pope John Paul II and his message. Yet, he was against the death penalty and would certainly be for universal “socialized” health care. Many of these same people are very selective in what they accept from JPII — since they support executions, an denying those without money medical care.

I have a love / hate relationship with the guy. He is pro-life, so you have to love him for that. Yet (seemingly) he could care less for his neighbor, so that is less than admirable.

As the person to see things in the eye,the Catholics in Malaysia comes from many races. And bible that written in Malay form which is used by other races not the muslims,and also in Iban language, the word of God were written as ‘Allah Taala’. I just heard a commentary by Catholic apologist Patrick Madrid who insists that the death penalty is moral and just --- and consistent with Church teaching.
